Within the following ZenCart examples we’ll be describing product Attribute levels and how best to manage them.
We will start from the basics and build upon these.
The product examples we are going to work with are Clothing (something we should all be wearing
Category: Clothing
Sub Category: Jeans
Product A1: Jeans Blue Small – Stock: 10
Product A2: Jeans Blue Medium – Stock: 8
Product A3: Jeans Blue Larger – Stock: 5
Single Products with single Stock level

If your store is holding single products then out of the box ZenCart very much catters for your requirements
Within ZenCart Category/products each product will be added individually and within a products details you can simple enter and manage the STOCK quantity
Advantages:
- Simple to manage
- Full description of each individual product can be added
- Stock levels are managed for that product
Disadvantages
- Multiple entries for the same product to cater for each attribute
- Each product needs to be edited to enable a stock quantity change
JSWeb SUGGESTION: Installation of the “admin_product_quantity_changer module”
This module enhances your Zen Cart admin allowing you to make product quantity changes WITHOUT having to edit each and every product individually. This is a much faster approach to keeping your product stock up to date
This is how your ZenCart Store side would generally look like:
Products with Attributes (multiple stock) levels

Rather than adding each product indivudally with their own stock level, a more streamline way (for you as store owner and your customers who are looking for products) is to have just one main product and within that product provide attribute selection. Here is an example:
Category: Clothing
Sub Category: Jeans Blue
Product A1: Jeans
Attribute: Size: Small – Stock: 10
Attribute: Size: Medium – Stock: 8
Attribute: Size: Large – Stock: 5
Total Stock: 23
